Upcoming shows and superlative prose...

Last night I played a solo show in a large artist space named POL'n, in Nantes. I was to play last in an evening destined to start late. A penchant for beer and precision puts on me on edge at late night gigs. Teachers, Florida played first and I watched as I contemplated Hula Hope's list of things to be nervous about before a gig. I analysed the points that may have been pertinent to my particular predicament.

I found myself a corner and studied the singer sing. I'm frequently confronted by 'amateur musicians' who blow me away with their technical skill and ability to belt out classic hits at the behest of drunks at parties. I'm always awfully envious and often end the night consoling myself in the fact that I could always be a public servant. But as I followed the performance of old guards Baptiste and Cedric I saw a mastery of something more than music. They transcended the mundane facade of the Friday of night and transported us to unfathomed lands of beauty. They unlocked doors that we built with keys forged by song...

Cheesy but true maxim #12: It's not the music, it's what you do with it...

And to quote that drunk guy from the Apollo Bay Festival: "Heart & soul mate, heart & soul..."

So... Urbantramper is playing lots of solo shows in the next month or so. Lake will be trying out new songs from an album to be released at the end 2010. If you're in Nantes, London or New York then come along...
